Though we didn't grow up camping and hiking, John and I have always wanted to do
outdoor things with our kids. But over the years, it seemed difficult to get
ourselves out the door! In 2011, I invested some time in educating myself about
local hikes, lighthouses and places to visit in Washington state. That summer, we did several hikes and visited a handful of lighthouses in the Pacific Northwest. Our new goal
is to visit all the lighthouses in Washington and Oregon and explore as many trails as possible. This is our family journal of
outdoor adventures!
Why Milepost 167?
One of my favorite locations on Highway 101 is Cape
Perpetua Scenic Area...milepost 167 (south of Yachats, Oregon). This gloriously
beautiful stretch of rocky beach is home to the Devil's Churn and stunning views
of the Pacific Ocean that captive me.
